JP Clark Fingers People behind Niger Delta Militants

As reported by Vanguard.

NOTWITHSTANDING that there was, in point of fact, a breakdown of law and order in Port-Harcourt, a development that constrained Rivers state government to beg the Federal Government to deploy military men in the state, not a few persons believe that the Niger-Delta Ijaw Elders Forum, led by Chief Edwin Clark, went too far, 20 August, by calling for emergency rule in the state when the killings in Port-Harcourt had noticeably been checkmated by the soldiers. But Clark in this interview asserts that accusing the elders of premeditation in their call for emergency rule would be standing logic on the head.

He also discloses why the Ijaw elders were not in a hurry to change their position even though he notes that “the governor, Sir Celestine Omehia may not be a cultist but surrounded by cultists”. His contention is that because Omehia was allegedly entangled by cultists, he cannot, consequently, be a judge in his own matter. He dismisses the charge that the elders group led by him was simply interloping in the affairs of Rivers State, citing his previous interventions in the past on behalf of the Ijaw nation. He also replied those condemning him for not settling the crisis in his home state, Delta, before coming to Rivers State, which is talking about the Warri war, and he adumbrates facts to show that he was in touch with the major combatants in the battle for Rivers State in his search for peace as the leader of the Ijaw nation. Excerpts:

AS at Monday, August 20, when the Niger-Delta Ijaw Elders and Leaders Forum called for a declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, it is believed the situation in Port-Harcourt had been brought under control, the army having intervened. So, the worry is whether the elders call was not a premeditated stand on the issues even before the meeting?

There was no peace returning. That was the very time the caucus of the Rivers State assembly men made their statement. It was after and they still believed…they still stated that the situation was irretrievable in the Niger-Delta and the struggle for control of power in Rivers State was on. That was the time we made our statement, it was not after our statement that the curfew was extended and the curfew is still there. It was after our statement that people are being made to put their hands up and do all sorts of things as we described in our document.

So, there was no premeditation there, we know, as a matter of fact, that in 2004, what is going on now was the same situation that was in Rivers State and it has come and we now feel that if this thing has come, let the Federal Government appoint an independent person of the rank of general or its equivalent to govern that state for six months during which a Judicial Commission of Inquiry will be set up by the government to find out what is the root cause of cultism in Rivers State. Rivers State is the only state where cultism reigns, they may be in other places, I do not agree with Omehia who said that there are more criminals in Bayelsa State or Delta State where I come from, there are not.

Rivers crisis different from Ijaw/Itsekiri/Urhobo ethnic war
What happened in Delta State was that, at that time, there was a communal fight among three ethnic groups, the Ijaws, Urhobos and Itsekiris. That was why the forces were brought here, the forces are no longer fighting in Delta State, and they are now in Rivers State. That is one.

Number 2, we agree, we don’t condemn people for nothing, Omehia may not be a cultist but he is a victim of circumstance, he is not in a position to handle the situation, which his master could not handle in 2004 and he said that he would not do anything outside Odili’s direction and Odiili was the one who allegedly used Asari-Dokubo in 1999 when the young man wanted to become the president of the Izon Youth Council and the boy helped him to win election in 1999 and before 2003, Asari-Dokubo was almost a member of Odili’s government but after the election in 2003, the boy had conscience, he told Odili, ‘I am no longer going to support you because you did not win any election, either for yourself or for Obasanjo, I am going away’.

So the boy left, it was at that juncture that a senator (name withheld) went to Okirika to recruit Ateke Tom who was the second-in-command to Asari. So he got him and equipped him to destroy Asari-Dokubo. They went to Buguma where the boy was burying his father to fight him; the Amanayabo of Kalabari was attacked. One of his principal officers was killed. Some of the destructions in Buguma are still there till today. That one happened at a time. Places like Tombia, Bakana, Kola and Abuwa were destroyed. These boys were fighting themselves there.
“Ijaw elders are in touch with these boys”

So, at the end, the Federal Government had to step in. I contacted these two boys and I invited them to my country home, they were ready to come but I had to clear with the Federal Government and I contacted Colonel Are who was the director general of the SSS, which is what happened. Are told me that he would consult with Mr. President. It was as a result of this that Mr. President dropped the issue of launching an attack on the boys and invited them. When he invited them to Abuja, Odili was still pretending, calling these boys criminals as Omehia is doing today.

I drove to Port-Harcourt, not once, not twice and told him what to do: ‘Please, call a truce, reconcile everybody, give relief materials to people who were displaced and rebuild the areas’, which are today still causing trouble. He did not listen. What happened thereafter was the arrest and incarceration of Asari-Dokubo in the interest of Odili. Ateke Tom ran away and the two were now enemies of Odili. Now, Odili went and recruited Soboma George. Soboma George was the number two in command to Ateke Tom together with Dagogo Farah, Phillip. We know all these boys, we have been asking our boys… they have been invited to the creeks to discuss with our boys how to bring peace into the Niger-Delta and our boys have held meeting with Mr. President on how to bring peace to the region.

So for anybody to say that the Ijaw leaders were doing nothing, that they were just making noise… let me explain to you today, Soboma George was declared dead on a particular day. The following morning, my telephone rang, who was that? Soboma George. I was in Kiagbodo, and what happened. The boy said, “I am not dead, I am alive. “Later the inspector general of police confirmed it.

So, we are in touch with these boys to see that nobody uses them… drop your arms and you saw Ateke Tom accusing Soboma George of getting contract from Odili. In fact, they call him the unofficial chief of security to Omehia. So, it is not a premeditated thing we are talking about, we now realized that the trouble, which started in 1999 till this date, has claimed the lives of very big politicians like Marshal Harry, A.K. Dikibo and many others. Over 100, 000 people have died. So, we have responsibility as Ijaw leaders, wherever Ijaw people are affected, to intervene. That is why we intervened in the case of Asari-Dokubo when he was incarcerated.
He was to come to Kiagbodo to see me but I have not had time to receive him. As far as I am concerned, our calling for a state of emergency is not for fun, we have done our homework. You may be surprised that I was in Rivers State for three days gathering information, I am not a coward. So what we are saying is that Omehia may not be a cultist but he is surrounded by cultists. A top official of the government who had been declared a cultist in the past is fighting in Ogoni land with another cultist for supremacy.
Since you have said that Omehia may not be a cultist, why should Ijaw elders, which you are leading, not back him to flush out the cultists you are complaining about in Rivers State?
I said he may not be a cultist but he is not a free man. The man cannot be a judge in his own case. He had told you he was a senior special assistant to Odili and he was a commissioner to Odili and he has told you that he would never do anything contrary to the wishes of Odili. I support him, I would be supporting Odili because these are the legacies which he inherited from Odili and there will be no peace … there may be peace today, tomorrow, it will come up again.
Have you not heard that the commander of the JTF has been changed? Shall we allow the army to maintain Omehia in power? That will be wrong. Or between now and December, Omehia decides to demolish all the houses in the waterfront and already, he is saying that the upland people occupy 80 per cent of Port-Harcourt, so he wants to complete it.

Are we going to sit down and allow such a thing to happen? There will be crisis again, isn’t it? So, what we are saying, for the next six months, bring a neutral person. Omehia, if he has been properly elected, should step aside. Six months after, the Federal Government must have probed everybody, and those to be jailed should have been jailed. So that monster has been destroyed, who is sponsoring discovered, you can then… Omehia, come now, the place is clean, come and rule, and we will support him at that time.

What really transpired between you and Soboma George when he called you?I asked him who gave him my telephone. He said “you are our father, you are our leader, and I am not dead.” I said “can we settle, can I bring you and Ateke Tom together?” He said “yes sir, if you can do that but tell the Federal Government not to shoot us again,” that they came to their village where they were hiding to shoot all of them and he told me how the hotel where he was staying was bombarded. So I told him, “you are a small boy, what are you gaining? I hear you” and ehmn, then, he told me the story.

That Ateke Tom thought that he was benefitting from the mega station, so he went to bomb it. So, I said “well, I will bring two of you together, please, don’t fight again. I will tell the Federal Government not to…” So that is the thing and I have spoken to Ateke Tom. So I am in contact with them, I have spoken to Farah’s boys, I have spoken to most of them, I have spoken to Alele Horsfall. I have been in contact with these boys in the interest of peace. What is in my interest in trying to organize these boys in order to go and fight people? What am I looking for? I have a duty to bring peace and the boys who are dying are our boys.

Odili hails from a small village called Ndoni. So why is he causing all these? It was not until the seventies that he became a Rivers man, he was a Delta man. Do you not know that, Odili was a Delta man under Aboh? So now, you want to turn the whole of Rivers State... since 1999, Rivers State has known no peace. If Asari-Dokubo is saying Odili sponsored us, if Ateke Tom says Odili is sponsoring us, if Soboma George is saying the same thing… Recently Prince Igodo, one of the anti-Odili boys was killed in Tombia, did you not hear that?

That is part of this fight which is going on. These people are behind the whole thing and between Rotimi Amaechi and Omehia, they are fighting in the court, they are also fighting on the streets of Port-Harcourt. It is a very dangerous situation, the peace may go down today, and tomorrow, it will come again. So that is why we are asking for a neutral person to come and probe the area. After that, everywhere will be peaceful. Do you know from one of the papers a certain lawmaker (name withheld) from the state talking that he was declared a cultist by the SSS? None of them has denied. So that is the position.

Some people in Rivers State, including the government, are accusing some elders in leaders in Delta state, with obvious reference to you, as masterminding crisis in their state, how do you react to this?

The governor is doing that because he is jittery. He should tell Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan that there are more criminals in Delta state than in Rivers state. They are friends, he should tell him.

What happens if the Federal Government failed to adhere to your call for a state of emergency in Rivers state?
(Interview took place before President Yar’Adua ruled out imposition of emergency rule on Rivers State).
Am I in government? It will be on record that we have spoken, we have done our part. That is all.

Julius Agwu Beaten in London

Julius Agwu got more than he bargained for during the second edition of Crack Ya Ribs in London. Before Julius mounted the stage on 26th August 2007, to thrill his fans, his ribs were almost cracked by blows from some Naija guys in London the night before.

Julius Agwu and others had gone to Club NTYCE to attend the launch of Ruggedman’s new albulm. Unknown to Jullius, some Naija guys who derive pleasure from beating up Nigerian celebrities were waiting for him. Outside the club, the guys surrounded Julius and in moves that will shame Lagos Area Boys, they descended on Julius with blows and slaps, Julius tried fighting back but what can one short man do in the midst of 7 demented London area boys? They took his wallet and mobile phone and warned him to watch his steps and that they were out to get all the “yeye Naija celebrities’ wey think say them be something”. They also bragged that Julius was not the first and that they had “messed” up Jim Iyke also.

We can only attribute this attack to nothing but bad belle and nothing else. It is no secret that girls practically throw themselves at these starts anytime they go out in London. Julius was not fussed by the attack as he was his usual self and was surrounded by a bevy of beauties at the after party at Finch Club on Camberwell Road. Naija celebrities you have been warned, watch how you move in London especially in the Woolwich area.

Camel Molests Woman

This na True Story!

A woman in Australia has been killed by her pet camel after the animal apparently tried to have sex with her.

The woman was found dead at the family's sheep and cattle ranch near the town of Mitchell in Queensland.

The woman had been given the camel as a 60th birthday present earlier this year because of her love of exotic pets.

The camel was just 10 months old but already weighed 152kg (336lbs) and had come close to suffocating the family's pet goat on a number of occasions.

On Saturday the woman apparently became the object of the male camel's desire.

It knocked her to the ground, lay on top of her and displayed what the police delicately described as mating behaviour.

Young camels are not normally aggressive but can become more threatening if treated and raised as pets.

John Mikel Obi and Miss University Of Jos

Chelsea star Mikel Obi we hear was in town (Jos) some time ago and needed some female company. He sent one of his posse to University of Jos and “fetch” Miss University Jos! The guy went there met Miss UJ and delivered the request from Obi John Mikel. Miss UJ was not having it, sorry I cannot come she told him. Disappointed he left and gave the bad news to Mikel.

Mikel we all know now is not one that gives up easily! He got into his distinct SUV and drove to UJ himself. He parked and had his posse bring the girl to him. When Miss UJ came, Mikel wasted no time no time and in a blunt Mourhino like English said to the girl “Hi I am Mikel, come lets go”. Now who can resist such a romantic line? Miss UJ tuned to jelly ,she some how managed to crawl into the SUV with Mikel and was not seen on campus again till the next day when she came to collect a few things! Awwww how romantic!

How Saboma George Was Killed

It is no longer news that Rivers state has been under the siege of Cultists cum Militants. These cultists were funded by the erstwhile Governor of Rivers State Peter Odili who in the initial years of his administration used them to intimidate his opponents in Rivers State, then Odili was known as the chief Patron of the Vikings, a deadly campus cult that was prominent in Eastern universities including University of Port Harcourt .

As is always the case with things like these, the Cultists multiplied and Odili soon lost control over them. From the days when Asari Dokubo was the de facto leader, the Militants now fractured and Tom Ateke broke away, his own group further splintered and one faction was led by Saboma George. George was a student at Rivers UST but had to drop out.

With time Tom Ateke resented the influence of Saboma George whose influence was particularly strong in Port Harcourt. Odili was now completely helpless and the only way he could keep the peace was by paying the various militants large sums of money.
When Celestine Omehia took over as Governor, he was uncomfortable with the powers of Saboma who had now become the de facto power in Port Harcourt. Soldiers and Policemen were not allowed into his areas like Waterside, Lagos town etc. it will be recalled that when Saboma was arrested some time ago, his boys went to the State Police HQ and freed him. That singular act sent shivers down the spine of other militants and the Government.

Celestine Omehia found a ready ally in Tom Ateke who was jealous of his former prodigy; Saboma George. With the active support of the Omehia Government, Tom Ateke moved against Saboma George. The result was the open battle that took place between both groups on the streets of Port Harcourt. Omehia aim was to remove Saboma from the scene and Tome Ateke could remain in the creeks away from the public glare and continue his main business of oil bunkering unhindered.

But Omehia and Tom Ateke underestimated the strength of Saboma George, his resistance and the escalation of the fight led to direct Federal Government intervention, Yar Adua had by now lost patience and was not convinced the Governor could deal with the matter on his own. It was against this backdrop that the Joint Military Task Force reinforced by the Navy and Air force moved against the Saboma George. The soldiers stormed his hideout in a hotel at about 3:00 am. Not knowing that the hotel had been surrounded, five of his boys came out firing. They were immediately felled by the soldiers. The soldiers shouting told George and everybody to surrender and come out.

Seeing that the game was up, about 7 of them came out hands in the air but George was not among them. At this point the soldiers moved into the hotel shooting everything that moved, Saboma went into the ceiling to hide, but unfortunately for him, the soldiers noticed the ceiling tile had shifted, they straight away fired some shots into the ceiling and one of these hit George and he started screaming. The soldiers asked him to come down , he refused and more shots were fired into the ceiling, again George started screaming and by this time blood was beginning to drip from the ceiling. He was asked again to come down. Either he was too injured to do so or because he was scared, George refused to obey and now wanting to take chances, the soldiers came out and rocket propelled grenades were fired at the building bringing it down and setting it ablaze, and so ended the life of George.

The soldiers are gradually taking control of Port Harcourt and most of the militants are now running and the students amongst them are now hiding around Choba. Four were caught by soldiers at Lagos road and were made to lie on the ground and shot. Most of the soldiers feel this is pay back time for their colleagues that have been felled by the militants.

The killing of George Saboma is just the beginning, the Federal Govt wants to rid the Niger Delta once and for all of all the militants. Tom Ateke is now on the run and as we write the soldiers have started moving into the creeks and hopefully peace will once more return to the Niger Delta.

Wierd MC Wierd

MC Weird the rejuvenated artist was recently invited to appear on Moments with Mo, a new TV Programmes at the City Mall in Lagos. The weird one who we all know is into girls and not guys, was to appear alongside De Banj, the oga Long Thing. The show was scheduled to start at 2:00PM and because of her Britico ways, MC Weird was there on the dot.

But maybe because he spent only s short time in UK and this did not afford him the opportunity of keeping to time just like the Brits, The Banj was hopelessly late. 2:30- No Long Thing, 3:00- No Long Thing. 3:30- No Long Thing. Because The Banj was not there, the show could not start, by now MC Weird was beginng to loose her cool and was threatening to leave. At about 4:00 The Banj strolled in, 2 whole hours behind schedule. MC Weird could not take it any more she, wait for it, she broke into tears!! Through her tears she claimed she had never been so humiliated!! Haba! all because of just a 2 hour delay?

Ibori's UK Assets Frozen

We did write some months ago that Ibori was going to face the wrath of EFCC after leaving office. This was due to cases of corruption and the fact that he was one of those that flogged OBJ when he was arrested by Abacha. Ibori then was a "security consultant" to Abacha. This latest move by the Metropolitan Police was at the instance of the EFCC we understand.

As reported by ThisDay

The Southwalk Crown Court in London, Thursday, delivered an order freezing the assets of James Ibori, the former governor of Delta State.
The assets frozen include real estate belonging to the ex-governor in the United Kingdom, a newly acqu-ired aircraft - still with the manufacturers in Canada - and cash, all estimated at between £20 to £25 million. The value of the aircraft alone, according to sources, is believed to be in the region of $20 million.

But in a swift reaction to the development, Ibori told THISDAY in a telephone interview last night that what the British court granted was a restraining order on him from interacting with the assets.
Ibori explained that the London Metropolitan Police had for the past 13 to 15 months been trying to freeze the assets, but simply got a two-month restraining order that was imposed by the court on him (Ibori) from interacting with the assets, while they conduct their investigations.
The restraining order on Ibori’s assets arose from an application made by the London Metropolitan Police after weeks of investigating the wealth of the former governor, which the police felt could not be reconciled with his legitimate earnings.

Also confirming the order by the court, the London Met informed THISDAY over the telephone that an application of restraint had been made at a high court in London against Ibori.
It, however, declined to disclose if the application was based on a request made by an agency of the Federal Government of Nigeria and when it was made in the first instance.
Sources in the presidency said this recent turn of events involving yet another ex-governor is as a result of renewed collaboration involving the London Met, Interpol and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

“We are optimistic about more of such discoveries in the next few days. The London Met has really been of great help to the Nigerian government,” enthused a source conversant with the case.
He dismissed Ibori’s attempt to downplay the restraining order imposed on him (Ibori) by the court, saying that it amounts to getting his assets frozen. “A restraining order barring an individual from interacting with his assets is tantamount to a freeze on the assets because they cannot be used to transact any business whatsoever. “Ibori, by the court order cannot withdraw or transfer money from his accounts, carry out any transactions using any of the assets, dispose of them, or even use them to secure any form of mortgage debenture. So what is the difference?” he enquired. Ibori is one of the 31 former governors under investigations by the EFCC. Speculations have been rife that the EFCC was being arm-twisted from investigating him because of his huge financial contributions to the success of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the April polls.

The freezing of Ibori’s assets is coming on the heels of yesterday’s promise by the Met to help track and recover money laundered by former governors in the United Kingdom. It said it would follow suit in the clampdown against some former governors by digging into the activities of all former Nigerian officials for a period spanning ten years of their stewardship.

According to an official statement by the London Met, “Anyone linked to money laundering and other financial corrupt practices, would not only be arrested and tried, but would have such monies, assets and property seized. All the money recovered would be returned to the Nigerian authorities. The probe would follow the due procedure based on the justice system and human rights.”
It was gathered that the London Met also has two other former governors under intense investigation. One of them is said to be from the south-east while the other is from the south-south. The source said the London met found their assets in UK “frightening.”

London Met had between 2004 and 2005 helped to track and recover money laundered by Joshua Dariye and Depriye Alamieyesiegha, former governors of Plateau and Bayelsa states respectively.
In the last six weeks, the EFCC has been arraigning some former governors in court for alleged corrupt practices while in office. They include Orji Uzor Kalu (Abia), Saminu Turaki (Jigawa), Jolly Nyame (Taraba), and Chimaroke Nnamani of Enugu State.

Mugu Catchers Caught!

A Tale of 2Face, Ruggedman and Makossi of Big Brother

Those of you that watched Big Brother two years ago surely know Makossi Muamba, the Zimbabwean beauty who became a lesbian to avoid deportation from the UK! Makossi recently breezed into G-Bar on Old Kent Road. But before you can ask what such a Z list celebrity was doing in a down market place like the G-Bar. Now hold on a minute, we don’t have anything against the G-Bar the place has been renovated and is now a lot better than what it used to be, but you will agree with us that Old Kent and G-Bar cannot compare to Tiger-Tiger or Chinawhite the favourite celebrity hunts.

Ok where were we? Yes Makossi breezed into G-Bar as if that wasn’t news enough, she had 2Face Idibia, Ruggedman, Tony Tetuila and a bunch of very rough looking girls. Those girls would have been at home in downtown Mushin rather than London! 2Face was all over Makossi like a bad rash! All evening Ruggedman tried to get into Makossi but 2Face kept blocking him!

We won’t tell you about the X- rated dress Makossi wore, why bother describing somebody who tied a very small towel round an ample frame? When it came to dancing, it was absolutely disgusting; Makossi should never be allowed to dance in public again. Have you ever seen a baby elephant dance? She was bent over wriggling her, now very wide, hips furiously, all we wanted to do was shout please stop dancing, please stop this torture”! It was a very cringing moment for everybody around!

Back on The Road!

PMAN’S President Daughter in Cash for Sex “Runs”

Unless you have been living on planet Pluto, you must have heard the phrase “runs”. This is the euphuism for prostitution amongst Naija Babes. Babes will sleep with anybody for willing to pay for their services. Did I hear you say nothing new there?

Well our story concerns the daughter of one time PMAN President’s daughter. The girl; Alexi who has a gorgeous drop dead body was involved in runs recently with a Governor from the North. The gist was that the Governor breezed into town recently and wanted some entertainment away from the campaign trail. He asked an aide who asked another person who asked a “runs coordinator” who it was that put the call to Alexi.

Before you could say Tony, the girl had agreed to go and satisfy the lecherous Governor’s sexual desires for a fixed fee. This was how she ended up spending the night with the Governor for a reported N50K fee.

Kolo Toure, Mikel, Adebayor Are victims of Racism!

Very interesting seeing how the English FA has tried to extricate itself from the mess created by the Linesmen. Everybody with two eyes, except the Xenophobic and racist idiots at the English FA saw that the Linesman made a mistake in sending Emmanuel Adebayor off. Well for those who are in the dark as to what we are talking about, the Carling Cup Final between Arsenal and Chelsea descended into a 20 man brawl after an altercation between John Obi Mikel and Kolo Toure.

At the end of this 20 man brawl, 3 players, Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Adebayor and John Obi Mikel were sent off. We don’t have any problems with erring players been sent off, but what we have problems with is the open display of racism. After a 20 man brawl, why is that all the players sent off were Black Africans? The lines man in explaining the glaring mistake of sending Adebayo off, claimed he (Adebayor) was acting in an “aggressive manner” and he aimed a punch at Frank Lampard!

Pray tell us, what the hell does acting in “aggressive” manner mean? Was his behaviour any less threatening than that of Frank Lampard or a Wayne Rooney? The Linesman is simply exhibiting the innate racism in the English game and society as a whole, Black people are always wrongly perceived as aggressive. If it were Wayne Rooney We can bet you that nothing would have been done, commentators will claim he is showing “passion” But if it is an Adebayor, Toure or Essien, they will say he “out of order” or overtly aggressive! . Eboue was the person that struck (if you can call it that) Wayne Bridge but because the racist Linesman could not tell one Black African from the other, he charged Adebayo!

It is shameful that the FA instead of admitting the mistake are closing ranks and protecting their own. We can understand Arsene Wengers frustration, he being a French man has been a victim of xenophobia, so when he says Arsenal are being treated unfairly, what he is really saying is that Arsenal are victims of racism and xenophobia.

Kobino kicked out Goodies Nite Club

Over the last 6 years, Goodies on Old Kent road has become a prominent watering hole for Nigerians resident in and visiting London, but it was not until the man with the bulky frame, Kobino, started running a Nite club out of the Basement that it really took off!

In the last two years, the place went from just an eatery and shakis joint to a full blown Nite club. Come Fridays and Saturdays, Goodies was packed by mostly Nigerians resident in London and celebrities from Nigeria. Even though the environment was somewhat squalid people thronged the place because of the nice jams provided by shai-shai Shilong. Things were looking good for Kobino; well so we thaught.

The first sign of trouble was when the popular DJ Shai-Shai disappeared, it turned out that even though Kobino was raking in money, he refused to pay Shai-Shai. Not one to be messed about ,Shai-Shai packed up his gear and left . Kobino got another DJ, but he was soon in another spot of trouble, this time with the Landlord. Just like he was doing to Shai-Shai, Kobino was defaulting on payments to the Landlord. It was always one story or the other, meanwhile the club was always packed to the brim so how could he not pay? The Landlord finally lost patience and told Kobino to leave.

We hear Kobino is scouting for a new location, but even if he gets one, will he learn and begin to pay when expected? Don’t hold your breathe o

President Obasanjo's inaugural speech

I beg make somebody send this to Baba Iyabo make e mark the ones e don achieve!

Your excellencies, other former heads of state, my lords - spiritual and temporal - distinguished senators and honourable members of the House of Representatives, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, fellow Nigerians: We give praise and honour to God Almighty for this day specially appointed by God himself.
Everything created by God has its destiny, and it is the destiny of all of us to see this day.
Twelve months ago, no-one could have predicted the series of stunning events that made it possible for democratic elections to be held at the local government level, the state level, and culminating in the National Assembly elections.
Thereafter, you the good people of Nigeria elected me, a man who had walked through the valley of the shadow of death, as your president as your president to head the democratic civilian administration.
I believe that this is what God Almighty has ordained for me and for my beloved country, Nigeria, and its people.
I accept this destiny in all humility and with the full belief that with the backing and support of our people, we shall not fail.
I wish at this point to thank all you good Nigerians for the confidence reposed in me.
I wish to pay tribute to the great and gallant Nigerians who lost their lives in the course of the struggle for liberty, democracy and good governance.
They held the beacon of freedom and liberty high in the face of state terrorism and tyranny.
We thank God that their sacrifice has not been in vain.
We will surely always remember them.
Our thanks go also to the friends of Nigeria in many lands for the commitment and unrelenting support they gave throughout the dark ominous days of the struggle.
Nigerians living in foreign lands deserve special tribute for not forgetting their fatherland, and for making their voices heard persistently in defence of freedom; and I must commend you, my home-based fellow Nigerians for the way you bore unprecedented hardship, deprivation of every conceivable rights and privileges that were once taken for granted.
I commend Gen Abdulsalami Abubakar and members of the Provisional Ruling Council, PRC, for the leadership they gave the country in the last 11 months, and for keeping meticulously to their announced time-table of handing over to a democratically elected government today.
As officers and gentlemen, they have kept their word.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, also deserve the thanks of all of us.
In the face of doubt and scepticism and great time constraints, the chairman and his commissioners conducted the elections, right from local government level to the presidential level.
They acquitted themselves creditably and they deserve our gratitude.
Nigeria is wonderfully endowed by the Almighty with human and other resources.
It does no credit either to us or the entire black race if we fail in managing our resources for quick improvement in the quality of life of our people.
Instead of progress and development, which we are entitled to expect from those who govern us, we experienced in the last decade and half, and particularly in the last regime but one, persistent deterioration in the quality of our governance, leading to instability and the weakening of all public institutions.
Good men were shunned and kept away from government while those who should be kept away were drawn near.
Relations between men and women who had been friends for many decades and between communities that had lived together in peace for many generations became very bitter because of the actions or inaction of government.
The citizens developed distrust in government, and because promises made for the improvement the conditions of the people were not kept, all statements by government met with cynicism.
Government officials became progressively indifferent to propriety of conduct and showed little commitment to promoting the general welfare of the people and the public good.
Government and all its agencies became thoroughly corrupt and reckless.
Members of the public had to bribe their way through in ministries and parastatals to get attention and one government agency had to bribe another government agency to obtain the release of their statutory allocations of funds.
The impact of official corruption is so rampant and has earned Nigeria a very bad image at home and abroad.
Besides, it has destructed and retrogressed development .
Our Infrastructures - NEPA , NITEL , roads, railways, education, housing and other social services were allowed to decay and collapse.
Our country has thus been through one of its darkest periods.
All these have brought the nation to a situation of chaos and near despair.
This is the challenge before us.
Fellow Nigerians, let us rise as one to face the task ahead and turn this daunting scene into opportunities in a new dawn.
Let us make this the beginning of a genuine renaissance.
Fellow Nigerians, the entire Nigerian scene is very bleak indeed; so, bleak people ask me: Where do we begin? I know what great things you expect of me at this new dawn.
As I have said many times in my extensive travels in the country, I am not a miracle worker.
It will be foolish to underrate the task ahead.
Alone, I can do little.
You have been asked many times in the past to make sacrifices and to be patient.
I am also going to ask you to make sacrifices and to exercise patience.
The difference will be that in the past, sacrifices were made and patience exercised with little or no results.
This time, however, the results of your sacrifice and patience will be clear and manifest for all to see.
With God as our guide and with 120 million Nigerians working with me with commitment, sustained effort and determination we shall not fail.
On my part, I will give the forthright, purposeful, committed, honest, and transparent leadership that the situation demands.
I am determined, with your full cooperation to make significant changes within a year of my administration.
Together we shall take steps to halt the decline in the human development indices as they apply to Nigeria.
All the impacts of bad governance on our people that are immediately removable will be removed while working for medium and long-term solutions.
Corruption, the greatest single bane of our society today, will be tackled head-on at all levels.
Corruption is incipient in all human societies and in most human activities, but it must not be condoned.
This is why laws are made and enforced to check corruption so that society will survive and develop in an orderly, reasonable, and predictable way.
No society can achieve anything near its full potential if it allows corruption to become the full-blown cancer it has become in Nigeria.
One of the greatest tragedies of military rule in recent times is that corruption was allowed to grow unchallenged and unchecked even when it was glaring for everybody to see.
Rules and regulations for doing official business were deliberately ignored, set aside, or by-passed to facilitate corrupt practices.
Beneficiaries of corruption in all forms will fight back with all at their disposals.
We shall be firm with them.
There will be no sacred cows.
Nobody, no matter who and where will be allowed to get away with the breach of the law or the perpetration of corruption and evil.
Under this administration, therefore, all the rules and regulations designed to help honesty and transparency in dealing with government will be restored and enforced.
Specifically, I will immediately reintroduce civil service rules and financial instructions and enforce compliance.
Other regulations will be introduced to ensure transparency.
The rampant corruption in the public service and the cynical contempt for integrity that pervades every level of the bureaucracy will be stamped out.
The public officer must be encouraged to believe once again that integrity pays and self-respect must be restored and his work must be fairly rewarded through better pay and benefits - both while he is in service and in retirement.
I am very aware of the widespread cynicism and total lack of confidence in government, arising from the bad faith, deceit and evil actions of recent administrations.
Where official pronouncements are repeatedly made and not met by action, government forfeits the confidence of the people and their trust.
One of the immediate acts of this administration will be to implement quickly and decisively measures that will restore confidence in governance.
These measures will help to create the auspicious atmosphere necessary for the reforms and the difficult decisions and the hard work required to pull the country back on the path of development and growth.
The issue of crime requires as much attention and seriousness as the issue of corruption.
Although the police are in the forefront of fighting crimes and ensuring our security, it is our responsibility to help the police to be able to help us.
The police will be made to do their job, all Nigerian citizens and residents in our midst are entitled to the protection of life and property.
A determined effort will be made to cut down significantly the incidence of violent crimes.
I believe that this administration must deal with the following issues even in these difficult times of near economic collapse: the crises in the oil-producing areas, food supply, food security, and agriculture, law and order with particular reference to armed robbery and cultism in our educational institutions, exploration and production of petroleum, education, macroeconomic policies, supply and distribution of petroleum products, the debt issue, corruption, drug, organized fraud called 419, and crimes leading to loss of lives, properties, and investment; infrastructure, water supply, energy, telecommunications, ports, airways, national shipping and Nigeria railway; resuscitation of the manufacturing industry, job creation, poverty alleviation, housing both for civilian population and barrack refurbishment and new constructions for the armed forces and the Police; Ecomog , health services, political and constitutional dialogue, women and youth empowerment.
In pursuit of these priorities, I have worked out measures which must be implemented within the first six months.
Details of the focus and measures of this administration on these and other matters will be announced from time to time.
I shall quickly ascertain the true state of our finances and the economy and shall let the nation know.
In the light of resources available, I shall concentrate on those issues that can bring urgent beneficial relief to our people.
I will need good men and women of proven integrity and record of good performance to help me in my cabinet.
I appreciate that the quality and calibre of the members of my cabinet and top appointments will send a positive or negative signal to Nigerians and the international community as to the seriousness of the administration to make salutary changes.
In a difficult and abnormal situation, great care and circumspection are called for in appointments to the cabinet and high public positions.
To be appointed a minister, or to any other public office is not a license to loot the treasury.
It is a call to national service.
It is one of the best ways of rendering dedicated service to humanity.
In this administration, being a minister or holding any other public office will not deprive you of what you have before you come into office, but you will not be allowed to have conflict of interest, abuse of office, or illicit acquisitions.
Service to be satisfying must entail certain amounts of sacrifice.
A regular weekly meeting of cabinet will be reintroduced to enrich the quality of decisions of government through open discussions of memoranda in council.
Before any issues are introduced to the cabinet, the time-tested procedure of inter-ministerial consultation will have been made.
The conclusion of council, circulated to all ministers and permanent secretaries, will, as used to be the practice in the past, be the authority for executive action and for incurring expenditure of public fund.
This will help the cohesion of the government, ensure discipline, and hinder corrupt intentions since all major contracts must go to council for open consideration.
A code of conduct for ministers and other public officers will be introduced.
Other measures for individual and collective self-control and self-discipline of ministers and other public officers will also be introduced.
I am determined to stretch my hand of fellowship to all Nigerians, regardless of their political affiliations.
I intend to reconcile all those who feel alienated by past political events and I will endeavour to heal divisions and to restore the harmony we used to know in this country.
A bill will be forwarded within weeks of the inception of the administration to the National Assembly for a law providing for 13 per cent derivation in revenue allocation to be used for ecological rehabilitation, infrastructure, and other developments.
A competent group will be set up immediately to prepare a comprehensive development plan for the Niger Delta area.
Dialogue will be held at all levels with the real representatives of all sections of the oil-producing communities to improve communication and better mutual understanding.
Responsibility and initiative for resolving the crisis in the Niger Delta rests with the government.
Nigeria has over the years played a very active role in the Ecomog for the restoration of peace in Liberia and Sierra Leone.
Our national interests require the establishment and maintenance of peace and stability in the West African sub-region.
Specifically, in the case of Sierra Leone, we shall endeavour to ensure a quick resolution of the crisis by dialogue and diplomatic means, by increasing activity on the second track of peace and reconciliation.
This will enable us reduce our commitments in both theatres, but particularly in Sierra Leone.
Nigeria, once a well-respected country and a key role player in international bodies, became a pariah nation.
We shall pursue a dynamic foreign policy to promote friendly relations with all nations and will continue to play a constructive role in the United Nations and the Organization of African Unity, the Commonwealth, and other international bodies.
We shall continue to honour existing agreements between Nigeria and other countries.
It is our firm resolve to restore Nigeria fully to her previous prestigious position in the comity of nations.
Let me once again thank our international friends who fought for democracy alongside with us.
Today, we are taking a decisive step on the path of democracy.
We will leave no stone unturned to ensure sustenance of democracy because it is good for us, it is good for Africa, and it is good for the world.
We call on the world, particularly the Western world, to help us sustain democracy by sharing with us the burden of debt which may be crushing and destructive to democracy in our land.
The incursion of the military into government has been a disaster for our country.
The esprit de corps among military personnel has been destroyed.
Professionalism has been lost.
Most youths go into the military now not to pursue a noble career but with the sole intention of taking part in coups and to be appointed as military administrators of states and chairmen of task forces.
As a retired officer, my heart bleeds to see the degradation in the proficiency of the military.
A great deal of re-orientation has to be undertaken and a redefinition of roles, retraining, and re-education will have to be done to ensure that the military submits to civil authority and regains its pride, professionalism, and tradition .
We shall restore military cooperation and exchanges with our traditional friends and we will help the military to help itself.
It is my resolve to work harmoniously with the legislature and the judiciary to ensure that Nigeria enjoy good and civilized governance.
I am also determined to build a broad consensus amongst all parties to enhance national harmony and stability and, thus, ensure success in the long struggle ahead.
Politicians have a duty in whatever capacity they may find themselves, whether as legislators or ministers, to be committed and be seen to be committed to the public good.
Politicians must carefully examine the budget to ensure that public funds are judiciously spent.
They must avoid damage to their own credibility and not vote for themselves special privileges.
They must join in the campaign against corruption and help re-establish integrity in the conduct of public affairs.
I assure you all that it is the policy of this government to ensure fair remuneration in service and in retirement to public servants, which includes legislators, civil servants, the police, and members of the armed forces, parastatals and public-owned educational institutions.
I call on all Nigerians, but particularly our religious leaders, to pray for moral and spiritual revival and regeneration in our nation.
I shall end this address by stressing again that we must change our ways of governance and of doing business on this eve of the coming millennium.
This, we must do to ensure progress, justice, harmony, and unity, and above all, to rekindle confidence amongst our people, confidence that their condition will rapidly improve and that Nigeria will be great and will become a major world player in the very near future.
May the Almighty help us all.

Homosexuality amongst London Nigeria Fashion Designers

Some people just cannot mind dem business. We have been inundated with stories of homosexuality amongst London based Nigerian Fashion designers. Just the other day somebody was on the Molue spewing names, well we just ignored him.

Homosexuality is not such a big deal anymore in that circle, it is has become what you call a “fashion accessory.” We don’t want to start calling names of individuals because that will be boring. But the only thing we will say is that there is one Nigerian UK based Fashion designer who is not gay and he is Wale Adeyemi. He is the only straight heterosexual we know in that industry!

Saheed Ladega's House

Sometime ago we reported about Saheed Ladega, the illegal Nigerian immigrant who was jailed in London. This is the house (see picture on left) at the centre of the whole wahala. he ws reported to have paid a £200,000 deposit on the house when he had no visible source of income.
Ladega is currently in prison and is likely to be deported on completion of his sentence.

What OBJ Told Buhari @ Council Of State Meeting

Until not too long ago when he attended the Council of State meeting which held at Abuja, General Buhari had never attended any Council of State meeting, not since the 2003 elections. Whatever it was that pushed him there, we are sure Buhari must have regretted it given the way he was addressed by the kampeism exponent; Baba Iyabo.

As we told, everybody was already seated in the Council waiting for Baba Iyabo. When he got in, he went round shaking all in attendance one after the other. He deliberately left Buhari for last. When he got to him, Baba Iyabo stretched out his hand to shake him. Buhari at this point was probably thinking it was going to be lovey-dovey. He was dead wrong! OBJ gripped his hand and talking in a very loud voice said “Ah Buhari you have come for meeting today because election is near… let me tell you, you see that chair? (pointing to the Presidential seat) You will smell it but you will never sit on it”. Buhari did not know if he was to break out in laughter or tears. Done OBJ turned round, “oya somebody say the opening prayers”.

Atiku's African Queen

We have heard all stories before , we thought we were shock proof! But this wicked rumour that somebody who recently boarded our Molue told yesterday was shocking to say the least. A while back we told you about the Atiku and Baby Doc story. This latest story concerns the great man himself.

The story according to his guy is that all is not what it seems with the Male international award wining musician in Nigeria. This artist who can arguably have any babe he fancies in Nigeria got close to Atiku after wining his award and some how the relationship got heavy and in no time, the artist became Atiku’s African Queen.

We were stunned when we heard the story. Not ones to be careless with rumours, we decided to do some investigations. We were shocked when other rumour mongers confirmed that indeed the award wining artist was Atiku’s African Queen for a while. We hear that the artist was spoilt by Atiku. He also gave him a lot of money we were told!

How Yar Adua Emerged

It is no longer news that Yar Adua is the Presidential candidate of the PDP in the forthcoming Presidential elections in Nigeria. What is news however is how he out of nowhere became the PDP candidate.

Most people wrongly assume that Yar Adua was chosen by OBJ. This cannot be further from the truth. Before the emergence of YA, OBJ had led many candidates to believe that he had their backs in the Presidential race. These included the likes of IBB, Duke, Gusau and Odili. The story was that OBJ was playing all against each other and he did not have an anointed candidate or if he did, he never revealed it. Odili contrary to widespread beliefs was never supported by OBJ, it was Anthony Annenih that was his champion. OBJ knew that Odili had no chance of wining it, also OBJ had his mind set on a credible Northern candidate. We were reliably informed that his preference was Gen Buhari.

It was against this backdrop that the PDP Governors met to produce a consensus candidate. After several meetings, the Governors decided to settle for Yar Adua. The Governors told Kwara State Governor Bukola Saraki to produce a position paper to be given to OBJ.

OBJ was pleasantly surprised when the Governors through Saraki made it known to him that YA was their chosen candidate. With OBJ and the Governors now singing from the same hymn sheet, he felt confident enough to ask the likes of IBB to withdraw for Yar Adua. One person that was not happy with the choice of YA was Anenih, on the day of the Presidential Primaries at the Eagle Square, he accosted Saraki who had just been in to see OBJ in his special booth and wanted to know what he went to tell the President. He told Saraki “young man I know what you are all planning, I hope you don’t regret it”.

The Unfaithful First Lady

We did promise that we were going to talk about the First Lady that was having an affair. A few people wrote in asking us give them the story, and because we only tell stories on the Molue and not inside mailboxes we refused! Well the gist is that it is the wife of the Delta state Governor who is involved or should we say involved? James who was recently called very “…smart and dangerously so…” by OBJ is making a second appearance on the Molue.

Ibori has been dogged by a lot of controversies since he assumed the mantle of leadership in Delta State. One rumour that made the rounds early in his regime was that he was involved in the assassination Chief Alfred Rewane the Itsekiri Patriarch. Ibori who is an Itsekiri (maternal side) was close to the late chief and remember we said, in our first story on him, that he ran some dirty errands for the Abachas. Remember also that he was a security consultant to Abacha. How ex London cab driver come become security consultant? Maybe it as a result of his cult days at the University of Benin. In any case he is rumoured to have planned and arranged the Flour Mills stickers that were used by the assassins that shot Rewane. This rumour has been making the rounds for a while now.

Anyway back to our story. The gist is that First Lady Chief Mrs Nkoyo Ibori met this guy in London. The guy was a real rough neck that was into very shady deals. When the relationship started, people assumed that he was just Nkoyo’s bit of rough and it was gong to fizzle out, but for where , the relationship got stronger and stronger. Some people will swear that she got into the relationship because Ibori neglected her where it mattered and that because he had fathered a child by the daughter of his former Commissioner for Women Affairs (Can you imagine the irony?) Whatever the motivation, the relationship got so serious and madam was always running to London at every opportunity for some TLC from her bit of rough.

In no time, the story got to Ibori and like the typical jaguda man that he is, he simply confronted Nkoyo’s bit of rough and threatened to deal with him if he did not back off. Not one to look for trouble and because he had only come out Her Majesty’s Prison (He was jailed for a deal that went bad when he was dating Nkoyo) Nkoyo’s bit of rough heeded Ibori’s warning and ran off. We are still monitoring the situation to see if anything will happen again. But while it lasted, Nkoyo lavished money, presents and a house on the guy!

UJ Student Commits Suicide bc of Naija Maradona

First time Nigerians heard of homosexuality in the corridors of power was during the ill fated Gideon Orkar coup. That was the first time the cat was let out of the bag. Ever since then a few Nigerian leaders have been dogged by claims of homosexuality.

We can tell you that one person who has not been able to shake this off is Naija’s own Maradona. Reports reaching us state that he is a bisexual with a special preference for guys. One o f his numerous male lovers is the Glowing boss of a big mobile company in Nigeria. This Glowing boss has been swinging both ways and he has been a long time lover of Naija Maradona. Anyway back to the main gist.

Some years ago Naija Maradona had this passionate affair with a Male University of Jos student. The boy was very much in love with Naija Maradona and he was led to believe that he was the special one and there was nobody else. The UJ student was on cloud 9, he was spoilt rotten by Naija Maradona. His joy did not last long.

What the UJ student did not know was that Naija Maradona was dating another young man in London, the affair was so serious that he bought him a house in London. The UJ student was devastated, he tried contacting Naija Maradona to either deny or confirm the shocking rumour he had heard, but he was brushed aside. He tried getting Naija Maradona to change his mind to no avail. The poor UJ student completely lost his mind and failing to get his lover back; he proceeded to take his own life by committing suicide.

Fani Kayode Vs Drugs

Fani Kayode, the Aviation Minister is really keeping a low profile these days. But Nigerians still remember how the foul mouthed former aide to President Obasanjo used to abuse Nigerians from pillar to post. He was quick to jump on the back of anybody who tried as much as say anything bad about the President. The likes of Wole Soyinka and Chinua Achebe were not spared by the gutter mouth.

During his days as a the unofficial spokesman for the President, a lot of people used to wonder If Fani Kayode was real or if he was on some mind bending drugs. Well the true story is that years ago, Fani Kayode was a certified drug addict. He smoked and injected anything that could give him a high. It was so bad that the guy used to walk about town in his drug induced haze.

Because of his late Father, some people felt he needed help. He was rehabilitated and given a job with a former Northern frontline Politician. That should have been enough to set him on the straight and narrow part you would have thought, but Fanny was soon back in his drug taking days. Because of the shame and distress he was causing Fani was carted off to Ghana.

His sojourn in Ghana coincided with the June 12 years. Whilst Democrats were fighting to over turn the June 12 annulment, Fani was doing cold turkey in Ghana. After much struggles and money Fani was able to conquer his demons and he returned to Nigeria eventually. His rehabilitation continued with his appointment into the Obasanjo Government. Question now is; how long will it be before Fani Kayode falls off the wagon?
