Julius Agwu Beaten in London

Julius Agwu got more than he bargained for during the second edition of Crack Ya Ribs in London. Before Julius mounted the stage on 26th August 2007, to thrill his fans, his ribs were almost cracked by blows from some Naija guys in London the night before.

Julius Agwu and others had gone to Club NTYCE to attend the launch of Ruggedman’s new albulm. Unknown to Jullius, some Naija guys who derive pleasure from beating up Nigerian celebrities were waiting for him. Outside the club, the guys surrounded Julius and in moves that will shame Lagos Area Boys, they descended on Julius with blows and slaps, Julius tried fighting back but what can one short man do in the midst of 7 demented London area boys? They took his wallet and mobile phone and warned him to watch his steps and that they were out to get all the “yeye Naija celebrities’ wey think say them be something”. They also bragged that Julius was not the first and that they had “messed” up Jim Iyke also.

We can only attribute this attack to nothing but bad belle and nothing else. It is no secret that girls practically throw themselves at these starts anytime they go out in London. Julius was not fussed by the attack as he was his usual self and was surrounded by a bevy of beauties at the after party at Finch Club on Camberwell Road. Naija celebrities you have been warned, watch how you move in London especially in the Woolwich area.

Camel Molests Woman

This na True Story!

A woman in Australia has been killed by her pet camel after the animal apparently tried to have sex with her.

The woman was found dead at the family's sheep and cattle ranch near the town of Mitchell in Queensland.

The woman had been given the camel as a 60th birthday present earlier this year because of her love of exotic pets.

The camel was just 10 months old but already weighed 152kg (336lbs) and had come close to suffocating the family's pet goat on a number of occasions.

On Saturday the woman apparently became the object of the male camel's desire.

It knocked her to the ground, lay on top of her and displayed what the police delicately described as mating behaviour.

Young camels are not normally aggressive but can become more threatening if treated and raised as pets.

John Mikel Obi and Miss University Of Jos

Chelsea star Mikel Obi we hear was in town (Jos) some time ago and needed some female company. He sent one of his posse to University of Jos and “fetch” Miss University Jos! The guy went there met Miss UJ and delivered the request from Obi John Mikel. Miss UJ was not having it, sorry I cannot come she told him. Disappointed he left and gave the bad news to Mikel.

Mikel we all know now is not one that gives up easily! He got into his distinct SUV and drove to UJ himself. He parked and had his posse bring the girl to him. When Miss UJ came, Mikel wasted no time no time and in a blunt Mourhino like English said to the girl “Hi I am Mikel, come lets go”. Now who can resist such a romantic line? Miss UJ tuned to jelly ,she some how managed to crawl into the SUV with Mikel and was not seen on campus again till the next day when she came to collect a few things! Awwww how romantic!

How Saboma George Was Killed

It is no longer news that Rivers state has been under the siege of Cultists cum Militants. These cultists were funded by the erstwhile Governor of Rivers State Peter Odili who in the initial years of his administration used them to intimidate his opponents in Rivers State, then Odili was known as the chief Patron of the Vikings, a deadly campus cult that was prominent in Eastern universities including University of Port Harcourt .

As is always the case with things like these, the Cultists multiplied and Odili soon lost control over them. From the days when Asari Dokubo was the de facto leader, the Militants now fractured and Tom Ateke broke away, his own group further splintered and one faction was led by Saboma George. George was a student at Rivers UST but had to drop out.

With time Tom Ateke resented the influence of Saboma George whose influence was particularly strong in Port Harcourt. Odili was now completely helpless and the only way he could keep the peace was by paying the various militants large sums of money.
When Celestine Omehia took over as Governor, he was uncomfortable with the powers of Saboma who had now become the de facto power in Port Harcourt. Soldiers and Policemen were not allowed into his areas like Waterside, Lagos town etc. it will be recalled that when Saboma was arrested some time ago, his boys went to the State Police HQ and freed him. That singular act sent shivers down the spine of other militants and the Government.

Celestine Omehia found a ready ally in Tom Ateke who was jealous of his former prodigy; Saboma George. With the active support of the Omehia Government, Tom Ateke moved against Saboma George. The result was the open battle that took place between both groups on the streets of Port Harcourt. Omehia aim was to remove Saboma from the scene and Tome Ateke could remain in the creeks away from the public glare and continue his main business of oil bunkering unhindered.

But Omehia and Tom Ateke underestimated the strength of Saboma George, his resistance and the escalation of the fight led to direct Federal Government intervention, Yar Adua had by now lost patience and was not convinced the Governor could deal with the matter on his own. It was against this backdrop that the Joint Military Task Force reinforced by the Navy and Air force moved against the Saboma George. The soldiers stormed his hideout in a hotel at about 3:00 am. Not knowing that the hotel had been surrounded, five of his boys came out firing. They were immediately felled by the soldiers. The soldiers shouting told George and everybody to surrender and come out.

Seeing that the game was up, about 7 of them came out hands in the air but George was not among them. At this point the soldiers moved into the hotel shooting everything that moved, Saboma went into the ceiling to hide, but unfortunately for him, the soldiers noticed the ceiling tile had shifted, they straight away fired some shots into the ceiling and one of these hit George and he started screaming. The soldiers asked him to come down , he refused and more shots were fired into the ceiling, again George started screaming and by this time blood was beginning to drip from the ceiling. He was asked again to come down. Either he was too injured to do so or because he was scared, George refused to obey and now wanting to take chances, the soldiers came out and rocket propelled grenades were fired at the building bringing it down and setting it ablaze, and so ended the life of George.

The soldiers are gradually taking control of Port Harcourt and most of the militants are now running and the students amongst them are now hiding around Choba. Four were caught by soldiers at Lagos road and were made to lie on the ground and shot. Most of the soldiers feel this is pay back time for their colleagues that have been felled by the militants.

The killing of George Saboma is just the beginning, the Federal Govt wants to rid the Niger Delta once and for all of all the militants. Tom Ateke is now on the run and as we write the soldiers have started moving into the creeks and hopefully peace will once more return to the Niger Delta.

Wierd MC Wierd

MC Weird the rejuvenated artist was recently invited to appear on Moments with Mo, a new TV Programmes at the City Mall in Lagos. The weird one who we all know is into girls and not guys, was to appear alongside De Banj, the oga Long Thing. The show was scheduled to start at 2:00PM and because of her Britico ways, MC Weird was there on the dot.

But maybe because he spent only s short time in UK and this did not afford him the opportunity of keeping to time just like the Brits, The Banj was hopelessly late. 2:30- No Long Thing, 3:00- No Long Thing. 3:30- No Long Thing. Because The Banj was not there, the show could not start, by now MC Weird was beginng to loose her cool and was threatening to leave. At about 4:00 The Banj strolled in, 2 whole hours behind schedule. MC Weird could not take it any more she, wait for it, she broke into tears!! Through her tears she claimed she had never been so humiliated!! Haba! all because of just a 2 hour delay?

Ibori's UK Assets Frozen

We did write some months ago that Ibori was going to face the wrath of EFCC after leaving office. This was due to cases of corruption and the fact that he was one of those that flogged OBJ when he was arrested by Abacha. Ibori then was a "security consultant" to Abacha. This latest move by the Metropolitan Police was at the instance of the EFCC we understand.

As reported by ThisDay

The Southwalk Crown Court in London, Thursday, delivered an order freezing the assets of James Ibori, the former governor of Delta State.
The assets frozen include real estate belonging to the ex-governor in the United Kingdom, a newly acqu-ired aircraft - still with the manufacturers in Canada - and cash, all estimated at between £20 to £25 million. The value of the aircraft alone, according to sources, is believed to be in the region of $20 million.

But in a swift reaction to the development, Ibori told THISDAY in a telephone interview last night that what the British court granted was a restraining order on him from interacting with the assets.
Ibori explained that the London Metropolitan Police had for the past 13 to 15 months been trying to freeze the assets, but simply got a two-month restraining order that was imposed by the court on him (Ibori) from interacting with the assets, while they conduct their investigations.
The restraining order on Ibori’s assets arose from an application made by the London Metropolitan Police after weeks of investigating the wealth of the former governor, which the police felt could not be reconciled with his legitimate earnings.

Also confirming the order by the court, the London Met informed THISDAY over the telephone that an application of restraint had been made at a high court in London against Ibori.
It, however, declined to disclose if the application was based on a request made by an agency of the Federal Government of Nigeria and when it was made in the first instance.
Sources in the presidency said this recent turn of events involving yet another ex-governor is as a result of renewed collaboration involving the London Met, Interpol and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

“We are optimistic about more of such discoveries in the next few days. The London Met has really been of great help to the Nigerian government,” enthused a source conversant with the case.
He dismissed Ibori’s attempt to downplay the restraining order imposed on him (Ibori) by the court, saying that it amounts to getting his assets frozen. “A restraining order barring an individual from interacting with his assets is tantamount to a freeze on the assets because they cannot be used to transact any business whatsoever. “Ibori, by the court order cannot withdraw or transfer money from his accounts, carry out any transactions using any of the assets, dispose of them, or even use them to secure any form of mortgage debenture. So what is the difference?” he enquired. Ibori is one of the 31 former governors under investigations by the EFCC. Speculations have been rife that the EFCC was being arm-twisted from investigating him because of his huge financial contributions to the success of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the April polls.

The freezing of Ibori’s assets is coming on the heels of yesterday’s promise by the Met to help track and recover money laundered by former governors in the United Kingdom. It said it would follow suit in the clampdown against some former governors by digging into the activities of all former Nigerian officials for a period spanning ten years of their stewardship.

According to an official statement by the London Met, “Anyone linked to money laundering and other financial corrupt practices, would not only be arrested and tried, but would have such monies, assets and property seized. All the money recovered would be returned to the Nigerian authorities. The probe would follow the due procedure based on the justice system and human rights.”
It was gathered that the London Met also has two other former governors under intense investigation. One of them is said to be from the south-east while the other is from the south-south. The source said the London met found their assets in UK “frightening.”

London Met had between 2004 and 2005 helped to track and recover money laundered by Joshua Dariye and Depriye Alamieyesiegha, former governors of Plateau and Bayelsa states respectively.
In the last six weeks, the EFCC has been arraigning some former governors in court for alleged corrupt practices while in office. They include Orji Uzor Kalu (Abia), Saminu Turaki (Jigawa), Jolly Nyame (Taraba), and Chimaroke Nnamani of Enugu State.
